Please note: Researchers interested in applying for an Virtual Mobility Grant (VMG) in the Distant Reading COST Action should first read the relevant section from the COST Vademecum to establish whether they are eligible to apply for a VMG, and how to calculate the requested grant. Please download the COST Vademecum (latest version) for more information and see section 10.2, “Virtual Mobility Grants”.

Selection of applicants

The selection of applicants is based on the scientific scope and collaborative dimension of the VMG application, which must clearly complement the overall objectives of the Action, as well as on additional formal criteria.

How to apply for an VMG

Interested researchers can apply by following the directions below. In addition, they are welcome to request more information and consultation from our Virtual Networking Co-ordinator, Ms Catherine Kanellopoulou (email address: catherine.kanellopoulou@gmail.com). Applications in 2022 will be considered on a rolling basis. Missions in the current call need to be completed before April 15, 2022.

Instructions for submitting the online Application

Applications for VMGs are managed through the e-COST management tool. The link to the VMGs application is available at http://www.cost.eu/activity/grants. You will need an e-COST profile to log in or you can create one using the site.

The application for a VMG is composed of two parts:

Part 1. Online registration by the applicant

The Applicant must use the online e-COST tool to register the request for an VMG. The following information has to be encoded with the registration:

  • the title of the planned VMG;
  • the planned start and end dates of the VMG;
  • banking information of the applicant;
  • a budget request for the VMG (maximum amount: 1500 EUR)

Part 2. The Virtual Mobility Grant Template

Fill in the Virtual Mobility Grant Template available after step 1. This form includes the following sections:

  • Main objective of the Virtual Mobility Grant
  • Working Plan
  • Plan for Participation
  • Main expected outputs
  • Contribution to the COST Action Strategy

After submitting the application, the online registration tool will issue a formal VMG application which will be automatically sent to the Action’s Virtual Networking Co-ordinator for evaluation.

Formal Report after the Virtual Mobility

The grantee has 30 calendar days from the completion of the Virtual Mobility Grant to submit a report to the Action Chair / the VNS Manager and to the Science Officer of the Action including. See the Vademecum for details on the contents of the report.
